Manoeuvring systems for caravans
Manoeuvring aids, movers or manoeuvring systems, whatever you want to call them, are a real relief for your caravan holiday. Just imagine: You have arrived at your campsite after a long drive. The pitch is full and manoeuvring is difficult. With a manoeuvring aid, parking the caravan becomes child's play. You no longer have to crank your car or strain your back. It doesn't matter if the ground is bumpy or wet. Move your caravan into position with a simple remote control or with a joystick. With various manoeuvring systems for caravans, you can now also use an app and smartphone.
Manoeuvring aids move your caravan with the help of two 12V motors. These motors are mounted near the wheels, are swivelled in and move the wheels separately. Turning on the spot is possible with various manoeuvring systems.
Reimo sells manoeuvring aids for caravans as complete sets from the following brands:
- Truma Mover* & MOVER Go2
- Reich MoveControl & easydriver
- AL-KO Ranger & Mammut
- Carbest Cara-Move
All manoeuvring aids that you can buy in the Reimo Internet shop have a general operating permit (ABE), which means that no TÜV entry is necessary.
How does an automatic manoeuvring aid work?
With automatic movers or manoeuvring systems, the drive roller moves electrically against the caravan tyres. As soon as a certain contact pressure is reached, it stops. The swivelling process is fully automatic. The automatic manoeuvring aid is basically only steered and operated via the remote control supplied.
How the manual manoeuvring systems for caravans work
Manual manoeuvring system - as the word suggests, you still have to do it yourself here. You press the drive shaft of the manoeuvring aid onto the wheel of your caravan with a lever or crank. But that's it, from then on you do the rest with your remote control.
Here are the advantages of the manoeuvring aid at a glance:
- One person can hitch and unhitch the caravan with a manoeuvring aid
- Pulling or pushing the caravan around is history with a manoeuvring aid.
- With a manoeuvring aid, super-easy parking on the campsite is no longer a utopia
- No more reversing with the caravan on the hitch
- With a manoeuvring aid, parking damage should soon be a thing of the past, as you can enjoy a clear view all around the vehicle.
- Nothing stands in the way of a relaxed start to your holiday with the help of a manoeuvring system.
What kind of manoeuvring system for caravans do I need?
For the lighter caravans, the first questions you ask yourself are: Fully automatic? Or semi-automatic/manual? Take a look at the ground clearance of your caravan, how high may your manoeuvring aid be? Please note that with some manoeuvring aids you need an adapter set for attachment.
What kind of manoeuvring aid should it be?
The permissible total weight of your caravan provides the first clue here. Here are our suggestions for the following weight classes:
Caravans up to 1800kg
Ranger, EasyDriver Basic 1.8
EasyDriver Pro 1,8
MoveControl Economy L
GO2, Enduro ECO

Do you need a manoeuvring aid for a caravan with a tandem axle?
This limits the choice of manoeuvring aids somewhat, but that still leaves, for example, the Truma Mover XT2, Mover XT4, MoveControl Economy, EasyDriver Basic 2.8, EasyDriver Basic 3.1, Ranger for tandem or the Mammut from AL-KO.
Are there slopes that the manoeuvring aid has to cope with?
Do you have flat terrain ahead of you, or do you need to manage small inclines? For example, is the entrance to your garage at home equipped with a small threshold? Is your campsite on a slope? Then you should definitely go for more powerful variants.
