Die PowerUnit ermöglicht die einfache und sichere Kombination einer Büttner Elektronik LiFePO4-Batterie mit der bereits vorhandenen Bordbatterie (AGM/Gel/Flüssigsäure). Beide Batteriesysteme werden mit dem beiliegende Kabelset verbunden. Die Überwachung und Steuerung der Anlage übernimmt ein spezieller Batterie-Computer. Dieser ist mit dem BMS (Battery-Management-System) der Lithium Batterie verbunden und verhindert auch die weitere Aufladung durch die vorhandenen Ladesysteme, wenn die Lithium-Batterie vollgeladen ist, aber die Ladeeinrichtungen aufgrund ihrer AGM oder -Gel-Kennlinie die verbaute Bordbatterie noch weiter aufladen müssen. Darüber hinaus zeigt der Batterie-Computer die verfügbare Gesamt-Kapazität des kompletten Batteriesystems im Innenraum an.

Zusatzfunktion: Wird das Fahrzeug nicht als Reisefahrzeug genutzt, kann dies am Batterie-Computer auf Tastendruck eingestellt werden. Solange diese Ruhefunktion aktiviert ist, wird die Lithium-Batterie nicht vollgeladen, sondern im für sie optimalen Teil-Ladezustand gehalten. Die Lebenszeit der LiFePO4-Batterie wird dadurch deutlich erhöht.
