Cate adapter for mounting on compartmentalised vehicles

Check your vehicle to decide which carrier frame you can use (frame offset) and whether you additionally require a support frame. The sketch at left and the followng advice will help you find the right solution: it is necessary that the chassis extends to the rear end (rear cladding) of the structure (original lengthwise struts or frame extensions in the form of profile rails or sturdy load-bearing U-shaped spars). If the offset of these lengthwise struts is less than 1200 mm, the support frame I with a width of 1400 mm can be used. For larger offsets, the support frame II (1750 mm wide) is more suitable. The lengthwise struts should be situated at the outer edges and unobstructed (no water tanks or similar). You will need about 40 to 50 cm space at the front to attach the adapter. To the rear, there should be no obstructions to the mounting of the support frame other than the rear body cladding or the bumper bar (e.g. rear lights). The maximum load depends on the load-bearing capacity of the lengthwise struts and the permitted loading of the rear axle. If there is no frame extending to the rear of the vehicle, is is usually possible to create a customised extension frame from sturdy load-bearing U-shaped spars.
