12V solar battery - Gel, lithium, AGM or lead acid?

Do I need a 12V solar battery with 100 Ah, or do I need less or more power?

The 12V solar battery with 100Ah is the most popular battery size for RVs, travel trailers, campervans, garden sheds and boats. A 12V solar battery is a reliable power source to charge radios, phones and many other electrical devices.
Because not everywhere is a shore connection or any other type of power connection available. With a 12V solar battery you have enough power available to operate small devices independently from a campsite.
And another advantage: Thanks to the power connections in RVs, travel trailers, campervans or boats the battery can be charged or power can be drawn from the usual sockets - even abroad!
The 12V solar battery serves as intermediate storage for the energy you have gained. We recommend to calculate the size of your 12V solar battery a little more generous.
A 100Ah solar battery should be sufficient for the minimum power supply. Depending on the size of the 12V solar battery, the stored electricity can be used at any time for a long time.
Constant use is guaranteed even when the solar panels generate little or no electricity, for example at night.
Practical and inexpensive: Simply take two 12V solar batteries with 100Ah and connect them in parallel, so you get double the power at 12V.
If you connect the solar batteries in series, you get 24V, for example for a truck.

12V solar battery

Since the solar cell does not always fully charge the 12V solar battery, depending on the solar radiation, you should fully charge the 12V solar battery as often as possible with a conventional charger.
This maintains the performance of your 12V solar battery and so you get a lot of charging and discharging cycles from your 12V solar battery.
The life of your 12V solar battery will be extended considerably if you always fully charge!
Broken 12V solar batteries are almost always caused by the fact that the conventional solar batteries are no longer properly charged after partial discharge.
This often leads to a deep discharge of the 12V solar battery, which greatly shortens the life of a 12V solar battery, if not even terminates it.
Attention: Gel solar batteries have to be charged for at least 6-8 hours more, even if they are already full!

A 12V solar battery can, of course, be recharged by the sun. However, if the days are dark and the charging power is too low, you don't have to stay dark.

Gel solar battery

The gel solar battery works in any position, maintenance-free and closed. In gel solar batteries, only a small valve regulates the internal pressure when the charging voltage is too high.
If this happens, the electrolyte evaporates and the gel solar battery becomes unusable. Therefore, you should use a high-quality charger for the gel solar battery as well.
Gel solar batteries can be stored for a long time and are cycle-proof. The gel solar battery (lead-gel batteries) has thicker lead plates.
For example, solar gel batteries can deliver power longer than e.g. acid solar batteries. The gel solar battery can also withstand short-term deep discharges.
If this happens, the gel solar battery must then be charged for at least 48 hours. A depth of discharge of 70% is possible.
